Studio Lighting Workshop

  • Studio 250 191 Lyman Street Asheville, NC, 28801 United States (map)

Using flash and strobe lighting might seem like a complicated task for most. This five hour, hands on-workshop will free your mind of the confusion and empower you with a solid understanding of lighting basics. Surpass the "natural light only" status and break the glass ceiling with this essential lighting workshop.

The first half of the class, we will resolve many questions you may have surrounding lighting. The after the break, we will hold open discussion. After discussion, each participant will get to construct their own lighting set up with a model and create their own photos. Yes! You will have new photos to add to your portfolio!

This workshop will cover the following:

*Determine if you really need more light and why.

*Color temperature and color correction

*How to make photos sizzle with your on camera flash.

*Kick it up a notch with off camera flash (one light techniques).

*Two light, three light, and more techniques.

*How to use reflectors, light modifiers, flags, gobos, etc.

*Introduction for portrait lighting.

The only requirements for the workshop are that you have a DSLR or mirrorless camera with a hot shoe mount for flash and you have a basic understanding of shutter speed, ISO, and aperture.
